David Bancroft is a ‘new southern’ chef who showcases local and sustainable ingredients with a nod to his Texas roots. He attended Auburn University’s School of Business and was the Executive Chef of Amsterdam Cafe from 2006 through 2011. In 2013, Chef Bancroft opened Acre located in the historic downtown district of Auburn just three blocks from Toomer’s Corner, the heart of the Auburn community. Chef David Bancroft and his team bring classic favorites to the table with fresh, innovative flavors and artistic presentations. His commitment to using locally sourced ingredients has been recognized by Southern Living Magazine, East Alabama Living Magazine, Alabama Magazine, ESPN’s ‘Taste of the Town’, the ‘Buy Fresh, Buy Local’ campaign, and several local publications. In addition to supporting the local farming community, he also maintains a one acre fruit and vegetable farm that is utilized in his kitchens. Bancroft is a founding member of SlowFood® Auburn University, The Front Porch Revival, and a member of the Southern Foodways Alliance. His cuisine is fresh and inspired with a story to tell. His culinary passion and commitment to his community re-defines the principles of Southern Hospitality!
